A finely carved and painted common loon decoy by Frank W. Demme of Teaneck, New Jersey, dated 1985. This impressive decorative bird carving is shown in a dramatic calling pose with raised head and open bill, featuring red glass eyes, carved feather detailing, and carefully painted black, gray, and cream plumage with spotted back and striped breast markings. The underside is hand-inscribed “Common Loon,” dated “1985,” and signed “Frank W. Demme, Teaneck, N.J.” The piece displays appealing surface texture, light age-related wear, and minor paint rubs consistent with handling and display, making it a striking example of late 20th-century American bird carving and a desirable piece for collectors of decoys, folk art, and wildlife sculpture. Approx. dimensions (in): 12 x 16 x 7.
