Antique black leather firefighter helmet manufactured by Cairns & Brother Inc. of Clifton, New Jersey, retaining its interior maker’s badge and original-style leather front shield. The shield is lettered “1st Lieut.” and “F.F.D.” with a painted fire axe motif, while the rear of the crown bears the number “24.” The helmet features a high-ribbed crown, extended rear brim, embossed decorative detailing, and red, gold, and black accents. Presented in heavily used, as-found condition with extensive surface wear, soiling, paint loss, cracking, edge separations, oxidation, age-related deterioration, and possible missing or replaced components; please examine all photographs carefully.
