Elegant antique Japanese decorative panel featuring a beautifully hand-painted portrait of a woman in traditional kimono, holding a folding fan, executed in rich red, black, cream, and floral tones behind glass. The work appears to be reverse-painted or painted under glass, housed in a black lacquered wooden frame with an ornate brass hanging crest at the top. The portrait displays striking period style, with detailed floral kimono decoration, traditional coiffure, and a warm smoky brown background. The piece shows age-appropriate wear including surface scratches, paint loss, spotting, frame wear, and oxidation to the backboard and hardware, adding to its antique character. A charming decorative Japanese portrait panel well suited for collectors of Asian art, Japonisme décor, or antique reverse-painted glass works. Approx. frame size (in): 22.75 x 16 x 0.75.
