A charming antique folk art footstool in a worn red painted surface with traces of yellow and darker underpaint showing through from age and use. The stool features a thick rounded rectangular top, splayed legs, curved side supports, and a shaped scalloped apron with hand-cut decorative detail. The underside shows early construction with visible square nails, wear, paint loss, surface checking, scratches, and an old central cutout/slot, all contributing to its rustic character and authentic country appeal. A wonderful small-scale primitive accent piece, suitable for display, use as a decorative riser, or addition to a collection of early painted country furniture. Condition is consistent with age and use, including expected paint wear, chips, cracks, scuffs, and old repairs or irregularities as photographed. Approx. dimensions (in): 11 x 18.25 x 9.5.
