Antique salt-glazed stoneware merchant jug with cobalt blue script reading “P (or O). Levene, Hackensack, N.J.” across the front. The jug has a classic handled form with rounded shoulder, narrow pouring mouth, applied strap handle, cream/tan glaze, and attractive overall crazing and age patina. Surface shows expected wear from age and use, including staining, glaze discoloration, scattered dark marks, small rim and mouth chips, surface scratches, and base wear; green felt pads have been added to the underside.
