The work is signed with Greenaway’s “KG” monogram at lower left and displays the delicate line work, soft coloring, and charming Victorian child subject matter for which the artist is best known. It is presented under matting in a gilt wood frame. The reverse retains an old typed label identifying Kate Greenaway as the famous English artist and book illustrator, noting her 1890 election to the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colour and referencing early sales of her drawings and Royal Academy pictures. A fine and highly decorative example of Greenaway’s beloved illustration work. Condition shows age-related toning to the paper and mat, with scuffs, chips, and losses to the frame, as shown.
