A substantial carved stone sculpture depicting a recumbent lamassu, the ancient Mesopotamian protective deity traditionally represented with a human head, lion’s body, wings, and horned headdress. The figure rests on an integral rectangular base and features a stylized face, layered feathered wings, curled beard, muscular body, and carefully defined paws. The pale gray stone displays natural variations, surface texture, and scattered discoloration, giving the sculpture a weathered archaeological character.  This sculpture is very heavy (well over 200 pounds or more) and it cannot be shipped.  It needs to be picked up. Approx. dimensions (in): 22 x 29 x 7.5.
