Early 20th century Mills Novelty Company 5-cent countertop card trade stimulator in an oak cabinet with metal fittings, glass viewing window, rear payout/award card, and five internal playing-card reels. The front instruction placard reads “Drop Five Cents in the Slot,” with award schedule for poker hands and “Mills Novelty Company, 4100 Fullerton Avenue, Chicago.” The side decal is partially intact and reads “Mills Novelty Co. Chicago U.S.A.” with trade mark wording and “Genuine Mills Machines bear trade mark exactly like above.” The mechanism is exposed in the open views and includes the side pull lever, spring, gears, reels, coin slot, and lower cash drawer with key. The case shows age-appropriate wear, finish loss, scuffs, oxidation to metal, crazing and losses to decals, and some wear to paper reel strips and instruction cards, but presents well with strong original character. A desirable antique coin-operated gambling trade stimulator / card machine by one of the best-known American arcade and slot machine makers, suitable for restoration, display, or advanced coin-op collection. Approx. dimensions (in): 15.5 x 11 x 9.75.
