Antique leather-covered immigrant steamer trunk dating to the mid-20th century, retaining its original travel labels from Polish Ocean Lines (Gdynia America Line), including a passenger baggage tag identifying Józef Wielgolewski aboard the M.S. Batory from Montreal with a final destination in Wallington, New Jersey, and a sailing date of October 30, 1965. The trunk features riveted leatherette-covered construction, original side handles, locking hardware, and a fitted fabric-lined interior. A wonderful piece of immigration and travel history that offers both decorative appeal and historical significance. Condition is consistent with age and use, including heavy exterior wear, scuffs, scratches, losses to the covering material, detached and broken straps, staining to the interior lining, and age-related deterioration throughout. Original labels exhibit expected wear but remain largely legible. An evocative survivor from the era of transatlantic passenger travel, ideal for collectors of maritime memorabilia, immigration history, or antique luggage. Please review all photographs carefully as they are part of the description and condition report. Size: 21"x38"x24".
