Lanphier Jr. discussing the interception and downing of Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto’s aircraft, Rear Admiral Elliott Loughlin recounting his first submarine depth-charge attack and sinking of an enemy vessel, Vice Admiral L. P. “Red” Ramage, Captain W. R. “Bill” Laughon, Rear Admiral D. V. Gallery, and Rear Admiral Howell J. Ward. Also included are a signed Pappy Boyington photograph, a commemorative cover signed by Boyington and Japanese ace Masajiro “Mike” Kawato, a signed photograph of Rex T. Barber, and signed cards from Admiral Lawrence Frost and Rear Admiral N. G. Ward. The Lanphier letter is accompanied by a Signature House certificate of authenticity. Documents exhibit expected age-related toning, folds, creases, edge wear, small stains, and occasional corner losses.
