Antique salt-glazed stoneware jug with applied handle, rounded shoulder, narrow mouth, and hand-brushed cobalt blue merchant script reading “B. Spanton, Paterson, N.J.” The jug has a warm gray-tan glaze with scattered kiln speckling, cobalt spotting, and age-related surface variation throughout, giving it strong rustic character. The underside is unglazed and shows expected wear, staining, and remnants of green felt from prior display. Condition includes age-appropriate glaze wear, minor flakes, staining, rim discoloration, and scattered firing imperfections, with no major structural loss visible in the photos. A desirable New Jersey advertising stoneware piece with attractive cobalt decoration and appealing folk-art presentation. Approx. dimensions (in): 11 x 6.5 x 6.5.
