A decorative antique majolica covered jar featuring a soft turquoise crackle-glazed ground with raised yellow fan-shaped panels, birds, flowers, butterflies, and leafy border decoration. The fitted lid is topped with a molded butterfly finial resting on leaves, finished in brown, yellow, and green glazes. The piece has a rounded cylindrical form with molded relief decoration around the body and a bright, glossy glaze throughout. Visible age-related crazing, glaze wear, discoloration, small chips, and losses are present, including damage and repair/losses to the butterfly finial area, as shown in the photos. A charming display piece with strong Art Nouveau styling and attractive color contrast, suitable for collectors of majolica, decorative pottery, or turn-of-the-century ceramics. Approx. dimensions (in): 4.75 x 5 x 3.75.
