Collection of 13 illustrated Civil War–themed envelopes and postal covers featuring Union and secession imagery, political cartoons, military portraits, Fort Sumter, General Benjamin Butler, Commodore Silas Stringham, Stephen A. Douglas, Elmer Ellsworth, “Capitol Punishment,” “Secession Web,” and other patriotic designs. Includes both color and monochrome examples, with one cover bearing a 1932 Washington postmark and postage stamp. The group displays age-related toning, stains, creases, writing, and areas of paper or adhesive residue. Approx. size (in): 3.25 x 6.25(biggest postcard).
