Kunisada was one of the most prolific and celebrated ukiyo-e artists of the 19th century, particularly admired for his actor prints and theatrical subjects. This example is presented matted and framed in a black frame, with visible age-related toning, fading, light staining, and surface wear consistent with age and display. The reverse retains an older paper backing, hanging wire, and a framer’s label from “Frame It Yourself,” Westwood, New Jersey.
