A framed Japanese woodblock print titled “Itsukushima Moon – A Muro Courtesan” (Itsukushima no tsuki – Muro no yūjo) by Tsukioka Yoshitoshi, created in February 1886 as part of the celebrated series One Hundred Aspects of the Moon (Tsuki hyakushi). The composition depicts a high-ranking courtesan from the port city of Muro seated in a small boat beneath a full moon, traveling across the waters toward the monumental torii gate of Itsukushima Shrine, also known as Miyajima. Yoshitoshi’s refined linework, atmospheric moonlit setting, and delicate use of color capture the elegance and mystery of the scene, with the courtesan’s pale blue umbrella and patterned garments providing striking contrast against the dark shrine gate and rolling waves. Presented under glass in a black frame with matting, this print offers a compelling example of late Edo-to-Meiji period ukiyo-e artistry from one of Japan’s most important printmakers. Approx. frame size (in): 19.75 x 14.25 x 0.75, Approx. painting size (in): 13 x 8.75.
