A framed Japanese woodblock print by Tsukioka Yoshitoshi, titled “Moon of the Enemy’s Lair – Little Prince Usu” (Zokuso no tsuki – O-Usu no miko), from the celebrated 1886 series “One Hundred Aspects of the Moon” (Tsuki Hyakushi). The dramatic composition depicts the legendary Prince O-Usu, later known as Yamato Takeru no Mikoto, disguised in women’s clothing as he infiltrates a gathering of rebellious tribal chieftains. Yoshitoshi’s masterful use of moonlit atmosphere, fine linework, and striking blue-patterned robes captures both the tension and theatricality of the scene. Presented matted and framed under glass, this print is an evocative example from one of Yoshitoshi’s most admired late-career series and a desirable work for collectors of Meiji-period Japanese prints. Approx. frame size (in): 19.75 x 14.25 x 0.75, Approx. painting size (in): 12.75 x 8.75.
